A spelling mistake was causing my agent not to use the right tools...

My agentic loop was using a static keyword list, so when asking it to list recent 'noteables' that didn't match the keyword list 'notables' then it would never invoke the MCP call to Splunk .

Agent application or 'harness' design is critical to ensure you are optimising for the experience you want. I've now combined both a 'keyword list and a model/intent router' to capture my 'intent' vs 'specific keywords'.

Check out my latest working lab covering these topics with Splunk MCP and Splunk Observability Cloud (Agent Observability)
